Set list:
Firebreather
Stare At The Sun
Betrayal Is A Symptom
Digital Sea
Of Dust And Nations
Burn The Fleet
The Artist In the Ambulance
Under This Killing Moon
Open Water
The Messenger
Deadbolt
Red Sky
The Earth Will Shake

So yeah, they opened with firebreather, and I was about 4 people back from the stage, and as soon as the heavy part hit, I was compressed like a fucking balloon being popped cause everyone rushed the stage, but that didn't stop me from screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs.

Then they played sats, and for this, I went off to the side of the main floor so I could play my sweet air guitar and head bang to my hearts content, but half way through the song, I moved back into the thick of things so I could be closer to Teppei. Then the played betrayel, and that's where I bruised a rib while moshing. I caught a really solid elbow to my chest that knocked the wind out of me and I got out of the pit in favor of the side once more so I could headbang and scream while nursing my injury. Then I went and got water while Teppei got another guitar out because he broke a string playing the riffs.

Dustin used a mini vocoder for digital sea, and the microphone was like one of those cb radio mics, and it looked wierd... But it was awesome sounding nonetheless.

Then they played some mellow songs (ofdust and btf) only to assault us once more with fucking shreddage (underakillingmoon).
I, once more, found myself in the pit only this time, people were a bit more subdued (read: tired as fuck) so I didn't get pummeled again. it was kind of like king of the hill... Who ever could stand in the middle and play the air guitar for the longest won... but you had to dodge all of the tackling and checking attempts from the other bitches.

So then it was time for open water, and that made me realize that I should probably drink something, because by this point, I'm incredibly dehydrated, tired as balls, drenched (literally) in sweat. So I go up to the bar, ask for another bottle of water, shell out 3 more bucks (they always charge an arm and a leg... nothing short of thievery - monopolies are illegal in the us for a reason) and then this random chick comes up and tells me I look like Ashten Kutcher... then leaves... (I'm thinkin'... wtf?)

So I'm watching the concert from afar, just taking in the full sight... ed's off to stage right, as always, teps on the left, dk's center with ri behind him... the banner they had behind them was white with the alchemy index symbol (two large circles with a triangle then a square and 4 circles on the outside) which was gray. And this thing was fucking huge... last time they had the vheissu banner... and each time I saw the big ass thrice banner, I thought... damn that would make an awesome bedsheet. They should give that to me.

So then they played the messanger, and dustin told us the name of the song before hand and I thought he said the arsonist and I got really excited, but it wasn't T.A... but whatever, T.M. is still a good song. Just not as hxcore.

Then it was deadbolt which was fucking amazing as usual... teppei thought he'd be smooth and add a few extra riffs here and there, and ed took the baseline for a walk which was fucking amazing - the song sounded infinitely more powerful.

Then it was red sky, the earth will shake and then they left... it was way toooo short for my tastes, but they'll play again and I'll see then the very next chance I get... maybe by that time, they'll have practiced the arsonist so they could play it for us.

Oh, and when they played the earth will shake, all of the hard core fans stomped their feet at the appropriate times during the last bit of the song, and the floor was wood, so it made a tremendous noise that could not only be heard, but felt as it reverberated around the room. I couldn't imagine a place where could feel more accepted.

So this is uh... I never did learn the words to that song... um...
This is a really old thrice song... um... that was originally on Identity Crisis before it was on uh... subcity and uh its called madman, but we took it off though for some reason, but it's kinda pretty... all quiet like this..

our course was coarsely plotted on a map of shoddy dreams
but hindsight will reveal times moving faster than it seems
maybe I'm just selfish, I've got nothing left to give
I'm still a foolish boy - I've got a lifetime left to live

and I was swinging like a madman
not quite sure of what I felled
and I might never understand
exactly what it was I'd held

and I watched the sun descending from this weathered gravel roof
and I recall the sky once told me that all lies lead to the truth

so I'll look the other way and I'll turn a deafened
I'll talk of distant lands pretend I was never here

reality beads on my skin like a slicker in the rain
I feel it soaking in and I begin to feel the pain
I fight the urge to run to you this is how it has to be
we've got to step away right now, we're just too close to see

and I was swinging like a madman
not quite sure of what I'd felled
and I might never understand
exactly what it was I'd held

and I watched the sun descending from this weathered gravel roof
and I recall the sky once told me that all lies lead to the truth

so I'll look the other way
and I'll turn a deafened ear
and I'll talk of distant lands
pretend I was never here

and I'll look the other way and I'll turn a deafened ear
and I'll talk of distant lands - pretend I was never here

I woke, cold and alone, adrift in the open sea; caught up in regrets, and tangled in nets, instead of your arms wrapped around me. And I wept but my tears are anathema here, just more water to fill my lungs. I hear someone scream, “God what is it we have done?” I am drowning in a digital sea; I am slipping beneath the sound. Here my voice goes, to ones and zeros, I’m slipping beneath the sound. A song from somewhere below, deadly and slow begins. Both sickly and sweet, now picking up speed, and ushering in the world’s end. And the ghost of Descartes screams again in the dark, “Oh how could I have been so wrong?” But above the screams still the sirens sing their song.
